Like all farms, we are a labor-intensive operation, and we rely on many hands to get the job done.
We are currently hiring one part-time person to join us starting Spring 2024.
In addition to our small year-round crew, we hire 2-3 full-season apprentices to join us every year.
Our full-season paid apprenticeship program is from March through November and offers room, board, payment and a hands-on education on a no-frills working farm.
To apply for apprenticeship:
A full-season farm apprenticeship is a huge commitment of time, training, trust, and physical and mental endurance. It is not for everyone, yet for individuals seriously considering a career in agriculture it is a great way to get a solid understanding of production, farm operation, horticultural, plant, and soil sciences, and farm business management - all skills needed to start a viable farm and become a professional grower.
Like the reality of agriculture, with the poop, birth, death, uncontrollable weather, bugs, long rows, rural isolation, sore muscles and dirt under the fingernails, this apprenticeship is not sugar coated and not for the faint of heart. This is a dynamic working farm in its formative years: the work is hard, the season pushed, patience tested, experiments fail, and tools break. People with self-motivation, attention to detail, creativity and problem-solving, strong work ethic, sense of personal responsibility, eagerness to learn, sense of humor, good communication and positive work attitudes are the best fit.
We will eat more fresh seasonal food than you can imagine, have fun, create traditions, thump SO MANY WATERMELONS and pick so. many. flowers. We will go to bed tired and wake up busy, build enduring structures, lasting skillsets, and lasting relationships. Most importantly apprentices learn to embrace the challenges, hardships, and rewards of farming, turning a romanticized fantasy into a realistic future.
